And if this world runs out of lovers we'll still have each other...

Jason and I were out running errands Saturday morning. Rite Aide, Safeway and New Seasons - no problem. It was a beautiful day and it was nice to be out of the house and with my fave person in the world.

We did our normal tag-team routine. He has the list and I drive the cart - doing a little TCB.

We were in New Seasons getting our bulk food. This is a total PITA with the bags and tags and bin numbers but we dove in and moved through it. As we are bagging up nuts, fig bars, seeds, teas, etc. this song comes on and I look at Jason and just drop a few tears. Of course, he looks at me all concerned and I smile and tell him I love him. And then I sang along in the aisle and serenaded him with this verse:

Let them say we're crazy.
I don't care about that.
Put your hand in my hand, baby, don't ever look back.
Let the world around us just fall apart.
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart.

And we can build this thing together, standing strong forever, nothing's gonna stop us now.
And if this world runs out of lovers we'll still have each other.
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now.

Nothing in the world could be more true. Nothing's gonna stop us now.

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship

(PS - This mullet looks so familiar - I think Jason had the same hairdo in the 90s! And that makes me love him even more!)

Looking in your eyes, I see a paradise.
This world that I found is too good to be true.
Standing here beside you,
I want so much to give you this love in my heart that I'm feeling for you

Let them say we're crazy.
I don't care about that.
Put your hand in my hand, baby, don't ever look back.
Let the world around us just fall apart.
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart.

And we can build this thing together, standing strong forever, nothing's gonna stop us now.
And if this world runs out of lovers we'll still have each other.
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now.

I'm so glad I found you, I'm not gonna lose you, whatever it takes to stay here with you.
Take it too the good times, see it through the bad times.
Whatever it takes is what I'm gonna do.

Let them say we're crazy.
What do they know?
Put your arms around me, baby, don't ever let go.
Let the world around us just fall apart.
Baby, we can make it if we're heart to heart.

Oh, all that I need is you.
All that I ever need.
All that I want to do is hold you forever, forever and ever.

And we can build this thing together, standing strong forever, nothing's gonna stop us now.
And if this world runs out of lovers we'll still have each other.
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now.

And we can build this thing together, standing strong forever, nothing's gonna stop us now.
And if this world runs out of lovers we'll still have each other.
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now.

Welcome to 2010!

We finally did it.

We got Smartphones.

iPhone 4.

Got a wicked good deal - free phones and no activation or upgrade fees.

Now we can do all kinds of cool stuff (but I'm sure you already know these things).

Why did we take the plunge? Two reasons:

1.) The youngins. Keeping in touch with our young nephews and niece will be easier. We can FaceTime and see them. Over the years, we've realized that talking to little kids on the phone is pert near impossible. It just sounds like wild jabbering. Harper showed us that we needed to step up our technology when she was running through her house waving her folks' phone at her toys and saying, "look at this, look at that" and her parents said, "no you have to talk into it, they can't see through their phones". (Point noted!)

Also, G-man is having another surgery on the 25th and I want to be able to see and talk to my family and get pictures and texts, etc. Please send all your positive vibes to our little guy. He's such a trooper! I'm so proud of his courage.

2.) It was simply beyond time. We were paying as much for unlimited talk and text on our brick phones as we are now for many more features on the iPhones.

Go ahead and say it - welcome to 2010!

I told the guy at the store that next time we upgrade, phones probably won't even exist and it'll just be holograms or something! Ha!

Vegas Baby! (But not the fun way)

I had a meeting in Las Vegas today. I'm on the plane now heading home. It's about 5:30pm and it's been a really long day.

When people think of Vegas, they think of gambling. I do not. I am not a gambler. Using my father's favorite expression, "might as well just stick that money up your ass!" And that's the truth. The last time I gambled, I put my quarter in the slot machine and it stole my quarter. Didn't even get to pull the handle.

Just planning to be in Vegas made my luck go south.

It started at 5:30am this morning. No driver. 7:10 am flight. Need driver stat! Called the car service and new driver was dispatched - showed up around 6am. Had mild anxiety but made to the airport with time to spare. (I guess there is some good luck mixed in with the bad.)

Then, we all boarded the plane and they found a hydraulic pump leak. We sat on the plane for an hour and then switched to another plane. The plane had just come in from Hawaii so they had to reset it and de-ice the wings. We took off around 8:50am. My meeting started at 10:30am. I got there at 11:30. And went to the wrong building. I finally got to the meeting with 10 minutes to do my part of the presentation.

Nailed it.

Off to lunch at the Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian. Had a super yummy, gigantic seared rare ahi tuna salad. YUM!

Back to the airport with enough time for a beer.

Now I'm back on the plane heading home. We just flew over Lake Tahoe.

Wishing they had complimentary brewskis on this flight.

So it's been a day of bad luck sprinkled with good luck.

The final sign that I shouldn't gamble - I found a dime in the security line and was going to search out a dime slot machine but I lost the dime in the luggage scanner. Didn't even get to pull the handle.

And so it goes.

Change is upon us

 Spring is here.
My favorite season.
The tulips and hyacinths are blooming.
Change is upon us.

Marching Right Along

So it's March already. Wow.

Here's a bit of a photo round up for the last few weeks.

Yummy!
Edible Arrangement from my parents for my birthday.
It was DEEELICIOUS!

Fence sitting.
I saw the neighbor kid sitting on the fence for quite a while the other day. I thought the kid's angles and red hair and blue shirt against the bleak wall cut a profound image. It made me think about what I used to think about when I used to sit on fences and think.

The Pride.
Jason and the boys sleeping in late. The animals are like self-ratcheting bookends. You move just a little and they scrunch in to make sure they are still touching you. This one is hilarious because they each have their head on a pillow.

Animal house.
I was on the floor doing yoga and Derville had worked his way into a grocery bag and was "lying in wait" for Jason to come into the living room. I grabbed my camera and was taking photos on the floor...

... when Crash got jealous and wanted a photo opp too...

... so we took a smoochie selfie. Then I took photos of both of them.

Hello March! Let's have some sun!
